About Everett Powersports
Everett Powersports has been locally owned and operated since the business began in 1982. Over the years, we've had the pleasure of serving our local, state, and our many worldwide customers. The original operators, Ed and Mike Leibold created Everett Honda Motorcycle Company as a result of the long-standing desire they shared to work full time in an industry they enjoy.
In February of 2014, two long-time employees, Mark Leibold and Matt Sterett purchased Everett Powersports from Mike and Ed Leibold. Mark grew up riding motorcycles whenever he could. He started with the company back in 1982 when the store first opened as a part time lot helper at 9 years old. Just a few years later he began riding competition trials on a two stroke Fantic 125. He tagged along with the service manager Gary Lawver to trials events and his fascination with motorcycles grew. He currently owns a Honda CRF450R off-road and enjoys taking his son out to trail ride his Honda XR100.
Matt started at the shop in 2000 as a parts professional bringing many years of motorcycle and hands-on technical experience with him. He quickly transitioned to Parts Manager as the owner and parts manager at that time, Ed Leibold, began transitioning toward retirement. He is an expert woods rider and rides to work on his street motorcycle year round. Moving forward Mark and Matt are very focused on strong customer service and can be found around the shop daily to meet customer needs.
The Early Days:
In 1982 Ed and Mike, along with 3rd partner Cary Condotta (who worked as Sales Manager) purchased their Honda franchise from Steve Klein of Klein Honda in Everett as Steve wanted to separate the Honda motorcycles from his car business. The all new Everett Honda Motorcycle Company was located at 7th Ave SE and Everett Mall Way. Gary Neece and Tim Kelly (TK) were the first mechanics, and soon additional staff members were hired to cover other departments. Mike and Ed stayed busy running the store and filling the positions of General Manager and Parts Manager, respectively.
The Old Everett Honda Store
In its first 12 months of operation, Everett Honda delivered over 1,100 units. Gary Lawver came aboard as our Service Manager, and additional sales staff joined the store.
In 1987, and with our good blessings, Cary Condotta elected to start his own Honda Store in Issaquah, to be known as I-90 Honda. Mr. Ron Orr took over as Sales Manager, having worked for Everett Honda for five years. When Ron moved on, Thad Stanley became our Sales Manager, and he holds the lead in sales to this day.
Construction & Grand Opening of the New (Current) Store on Everett Mall Way
In 1988, Everett Honda moved west on Everett Mall Way to its present location. The new building, which is still occupied to this day, brought a much better overall operation as well as improved parking for our customers.
In the early 1990's the store decided to take on the Sea-Doo line of personal watercraft. In 1994 Everett Honda Motorcycle Company changed its name to Everett Honda Sea-Doo, and over 300 boats were being sold annually.
Expansion & New Sign Installation
In 1999 Mike and Trudy Dunaway (Everett Suzuki) sold their Suzuki franchise to Everett Honda Sea-Doo. In only one weekend, many of their personnel and much of their equipment moved from Evergreen Way to Everett Mall Way. Soon thereafter, the store name change was undertaken to its present name of Everett Powersports, Inc. and by 2000 the expansion of our main building was well underway to allow for increased showroom, accessories, and warehouse space.
In 2005 a dynamometer room was added next to the service area to allow the service department to better troubleshoot and tune customer ATVs, motorcycles/scooters, and UTVs. This continues to be a valuable tool for our service department with the increased presence of fuel-injected engines.
Police Departments of various cities and counties as well as the State Patrol have elected to use the Honda Police Model of the ST-1300. As a result, Everett Powersports has been busy taking care of the Police motorcycle, as well as an ever-increasing demand for service work, tires, and accessory installations. In addition, one of the busier segments of our service business is the Gold Wing riders, many of whom live north up to Bellingham and as far south as Tacoma.
To this day Everett Powersports remains dedicated to providing a consistently high level of service, integrity, quality, and selection in everything it does and is currently the Northwest's leading dealer for Honda, Husqvarna®, GASGAS, and Suzuki. We support most major brands as well. We sincerely appreciate working in this wonderful industry where our customers are also our friends.
